Amputees in Gaza Strip Receive First Prosthetic Legs as Part of Jordanian Initiative

GAZA CITY, Palestine

Several amputees in the Gaza Strip received their first prosthetic legs as part of a Jordanian initiative aimed at providing mobility and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.

The initiative, launched by the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Health, aims to provide 100 prosthetics to amputees in the Gaza Strip. The first batch of 20 prosthetics was distributed at a ceremony held at the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Monday.

Among the recipients was 25-year-old Ahmed Abu Nada, who lost his leg in an Israeli airstrike in 2014. Abu Nada said that the prosthetic leg has given him a new lease on life, allowing him to walk and move around with ease.

"I am so grateful for this prosthetic leg. It has changed my life," Abu Nada said. "I can now walk and move around freely. I can go to work and provide for my family. I feel like a normal person again."

The JHCO has been providing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip for many years, including medical assistance, food aid, and shelter. The organization's director-general, Ayman Mufleh, said that the prosthetic leg initiative is part of the organization's ongoing commitment to supporting the people of Gaza.

"We are committed to helping the people of Gaza in any way we can," Mufleh said. "This prosthetic leg initiative is just one example of our commitment to providing essential services to those who need them most."

The Palestinian Ministry of Health welcomed the JHCO's initiative, saying that it will help to improve the quality of life for amputees in the Gaza Strip.

"We are grateful to the JHCO for providing these prosthetic legs to our amputees," said Dr. Yousef Abu Al-Rish, director-general of the Palestinian Ministry of Health. "These prosthetics will make a real difference in the lives of these people, giving them the opportunity to live full and active lives."
